Rebuilding the Box: Taking a Fresh Look at Strategies to End Poverty Overview Join us for NYSCAA’s Fall Executive/Senior Management Retreat in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. This retreat is designed for Executive Directors/CEOs and members of their senior management team and will be held at the Ramada Inn Lakeshore in Geneva, September 17-19, 2008. On Day 1 of this event, following the NYSCAA Board Meeting will be a Retreat Networking Reception for all attendees. Our keynote presenter on Day 2 is Deborah Weinstein, Executive Director of the Coalition on Human Needs, who will share national recommendations and strategies to cut poverty in the United States by half over the next 10 years. Deborah Weinstein and Meghan Johnston, consultant, will then lead retreat participants through a series of workshops designed to take a look at our Community Action Agencies with an eye toward rebuilding the box - if we were building our anti-poverty agencies and programs today, what would our strategies look like? On Day 3, our keynote presenter is Ricardo Aguirre, Counsel to the NYS Secretary of State. This day will focus on the energy issues facing low-income households and the Community Action Agencies that serve them in this time of rising fuel costs.
